How Much Does a DIY ( Do It Yourself ) Divorce Cost?

November 18, 2009

I’ve probably mentioned this throughout the site about 50 times, but I feel its really important that people realise the value of getting a DIY divorce package over a normal divorce from a normal solicitor. If your divorce qualifies as being proceed able with a DIY Divorce ( and if you’re not sure, just contact us here at online divorce and we can advise you – free of charge ), then it will cost you just £68, everything included, for your divorce to be processed and made official.

Compare that to a high street solicitor, and you will find that the saving is well over £1000 in most cases. So the next obvious question is why is it so cheap and is it “official”?

Well, we can offer the service so cheaply because it is low cost and efficient to process a DIY divorce. A solicitor would not advise you that you qualify for a DIY divorce, because he would lose money. The fact of the matter is, that an awful lot of divorces could be done as DIY, but unfortunately, couples do not get the correct advice. We pre qualify our customers by asking the right questions at the right time.

In terms of how official it is – I must stress – a divorce done by us is exactly the same as a divorce processed by any law firm in the land. All divorces end up having to be “authorised” by a judge, and that’s what happens with all ours. I would also mention that we now have well over 3000 satisfied customers!!

If you are still unsure, than please do contact us – it could be the best decision you make!

The Difference Between DIY Divorce and Online Divorce DIY Divorce

November 9, 2009

So if the title of this post has not confused you already, congratulations. The idea for this blog post came to me over the weekend when I was reading this article – Divorce Article.  Don’t worry too much about reading the whole thing, i’ll give you the jist of it here.

Basically its saying that in these tough economic times, more and more people are looking to utilise a DIY Divorce service to save money – however, the article argues, this is not always a good solution, as sometimes some basic errors can be made which result in the whole thing becoming actually more expensive – either by way of additional court fee’s or because a DIY Divorce does not automatically deal with ownership of assets etc.

This sums up exactly why I started Online Divorce – you see DIY divorce papers have been around for a while, but they really are full of loopholes, and they are a little tricky to complete properly. Part of the service we offer is making sure all your forms are completed correctly – because we actually do that for you, and making sure that they are served in court in the right way, avoiding a costly court fee and reappearance.

Another reason I started the company is I realised as much as I wanted to spread the good word about the advent of utilising the DIY divorce idea – it was not always right for every situation. We can provide that advice free of charge. Even if the DIY divorce package is not right for you, our managed divorce package might do the job which is still a bargain at just £169.

Its also worth making the differentiation that an online divorce is something different to a plain DIY divorce. A DIY divorce on its own is just filling out the paperwork and getting it processed. An online divorce, through us, means we do everything for you except sign the paperwork.

I hope I made everything a little clearer!! If not, then please do not hesitate to contact us!!!

If I Divorce Online, Is It Still Legal?

November 6, 2009

Perhaps due to the newness of being able to divorce online, I quite often ask if a divorce processed this way is as legal as one done in the more traditional sense. The quick and easy answer is YES – of course it is.

A divorce processed online is exactly the same as if you went and sat in front of a solicitor and done the same thing – the key differences are that we process all the administration, there is no need to meet face to face – and of course it’s a lot cheaper.

The journey of all your paperwork is exactly the same in essence – you fill it out, it comes to us, we take it ( and this is something a lot of people don’t realise ) to the court and put it in front of a Judge, who signs it and makes the divorce complete. Really, all we’re doing is taking out the physical element of trudging along to see a solicitor.

The signs are that more and more people are starting to use online divorce services as an alternative to the more traditional route, and the realisation that you can have a DIY Divorce package for as little as £69 is definitely starting to take hold.

Of course if you do still have any reservations, queries or questions, please do not hesitate to contact us – one of our trained customer services advisor’s will be on hand to take your call.

Is Online Divorce My Best Option?

November 5, 2009

First of all, let me apologise for the lack of online divorce blog posts recently – I was lucky enough to take a brief vacation. I did intend to blog whilst away, but alas, there was no wireless.

Anyhow, back to business – so while I was away, I got to thinking about the type of couples for whom an online divorce was not only a good option, but actually, is the best option. And by this, I mean, that getting an online separation is actually the best way to get the divorced process as opposed to using a bricks and mortar solicitor.

You’ll see all over this site why we think you should use us, and why maybe a DIY divorce is such a great think – and I stand by all those points, but on a less sales pitch kind of vibe, there are some other, more emotional reasons why online could be the best way.

Here’s what I came up with -

You and your partner are a modern couple, you got together, got married, it didn’t work out – but you’re still great friends, and just want to move on. There’s nothing to contest. Use us – I sincerely mean it. We’ll process the paperwork, take some of the pain out of the process and get you divorced asap. No turmoil, no lengthy trips to a solicitor – etc etc.

This brings me onto the 2nd point – getting divorced is an emotional state as much as it is a legal state. Once divorced, you feel like that part of your life is done and dusted – you move on. Until the papers have been finalised, no matter how dead the relationship is, you may still feel partly married. Crazy but true. So if the proceedings drag on for ages, you may not feel able to date other people, or perhaps feel aggrieved if your partner does date other people. Not a nice place to be.

Which Online Divorce Solution For Me?

October 6, 2009

So you have made the unfortunate decision to split up and get a divorce, and you have also decided that you both want it to be as quick and painless as possible – which is where we come in.

However, which of our options should you go for – at the top level we have two routes you can go down – a DIY divorce package or a managed divorce package.

Choosing which one really depends on your personal circumstances, and our Customer Care Advisors are specially trained to help you with this decision.

Really, a DIY Divorce is for couples who are completely amicable about the split, have nothing at all to contest, and just want the paperwork out the way as soon as possible. We can process these divorces very quickly, and really just require a few signatures from your end.

A managed divorce is more useful for a split where although everything is amicable, there may be a few complications of some type.

The cost of either of these is about £1000 less than you would find on the high street with the DIY divorce starting at just £69, and a fully managed divorce from £182.
