Cheap Divorce

December 15, 2009

On a daily basis I have a look at how people come to this website, and I am continually surprised by the searches people make to find the site – over the last few weeks there has been a surge in the number of people looking for a Cheap Divorce.

It makes sense in essence, after all, at this time of year and with a recession still hanging around, if you are looking to go your separate ways then I guess a cheap divorce is better than a costly and financially crippling divorce!!

So what are the options for a cheap divorce? Well, the most obvious is to take  a DIY divorce package which will cost just £68 – but there are caveats to taking this divorce. If there are possessions and money to contest, then a DIY divorce maybe cheap to process but could cost you more in the long run. Decent legal advice may ensure that you get half of the Porsche Boxter that you’re legally entitled too.

There are options in between the value of a DIY divorce and the wallet busting cost of a full blow divorce though. For example, we offer a managed divorce service.  This has the benefit of our qualified paralegals managing your divorce process, making sure you get the right advice for your situation. The cost of this runs into hundreds rather than thousands of pounds, and I would wholeheartedly recommend it for anyone who’s divorce is even a little bit complicated.

You see, the point i’m trying to make here is that cheap is not necessarily right, and could even represent a false economy. If you’re unsure, why not contact us here at onlinedivorce.org.uk and have a chat with one of our advisors. That way you can ensure you save your money and get the right advice!

When Online Divorce Isn’t A Good Thing

November 10, 2009

Regular readers of this blog will know how much I champion online divorce and have very good reason to do so! However, an article I read today was a good example of online divorce gone wrong!! Not in the sense of online divorce as a service like we provide, but this has more to do with the announcement of a divorce.

It seems that R&B superstar, Usher, revealed he was to divorce his wife, Tameka Foster, online, before he thought to actually tell her himself. Tameka told US media reporters that she suddenly started getting phone calls and texts asking her if she was ok – she couldn’t undertsand why at first, until one of her friends pointed her to a posting by Ushing revealing he was divorcing her.

Understandably upset, it seems Tameka doesn’t hold too much of a grudge against Usher – even going as far as to say that she hadn’t ruled out a reconciliation.

She even made a semi excuse for the stars behavious by saying that they weren’t really communicating at the time – Usher was busy away producing.

Anyhow – to be clear, I totally think that getting divorced online is acceptable, however, announcing a divorce online BEFORE telling your husband or wife – i’m not so sure thats a good idea!!

If I Divorce Online, Is It Still Legal?

November 6, 2009

Perhaps due to the newness of being able to divorce online, I quite often ask if a divorce processed this way is as legal as one done in the more traditional sense. The quick and easy answer is YES – of course it is.

A divorce processed online is exactly the same as if you went and sat in front of a solicitor and done the same thing – the key differences are that we process all the administration, there is no need to meet face to face – and of course it’s a lot cheaper.

The journey of all your paperwork is exactly the same in essence – you fill it out, it comes to us, we take it ( and this is something a lot of people don’t realise ) to the court and put it in front of a Judge, who signs it and makes the divorce complete. Really, all we’re doing is taking out the physical element of trudging along to see a solicitor.

The signs are that more and more people are starting to use online divorce services as an alternative to the more traditional route, and the realisation that you can have a DIY Divorce package for as little as £69 is definitely starting to take hold.

Of course if you do still have any reservations, queries or questions, please do not hesitate to contact us – one of our trained customer services advisor’s will be on hand to take your call.

End of Katie Price and Peter Andre Divorce Saga

October 20, 2009

Online Divorce understands that Katie Price and Peter Andre are set to finalise their divorce tomorrow. Whilst the saga of their lives, their split and their ongoing feud seems to have dragged on for….forever….I have to say that their actual divorce has gone through quickly and pretty much without a hitch. Surprising given the volatile nature of their relationship.

However, perhaps more than anything else, this highlights the benefit of having a completely watertight pre nuptial agreement in place. From what I know, this couple had a very concise pre nup in place and has made the divorce process so much easier.

Price is understandably very guarded of her fortune and estate – perhaps she’ll need to be with her dwindling popularity. Andre on the other hand has his own flourishing career to take care of him and is really only concerned with having access to the children.

Despite the divorce going through easily, the split seems to still be producing its own amount of controversy. The latest instalment see’s Andre falling out with Prices new man in tow, Alex Reid ( a cage fighter by occupation ). Allegedly, Alex prevented Pete from speaking to his children, and has since released news to some magazines that one of the children has started to call him dad – nice role model.

” Marriage is hard-Divorce is much harder! ” According to Jon and Kate Gosselin

October 14, 2009

I don’t know how many of you would have seen the tv series Jon and Kate Plus 8?  Its shown on one of the lesser known channels on satellite and features a couple, Jon and Kate Gosselin, and their 8 children. Its quite a heart warming reality TV show as you see the day to day struggles and joys of a modern family with 8 children – that is until Jon and Kate split up, and believe me when I say I don’t think even our DIY divorce expertise would help this couple!!

The couple are now going through a divorce which looks to be kind of messy. The opening shots have come from Kates lawyers asking Jon to return £180,000 worth of marital funds, plus contesting an arbitration issue of $55,000 claimed to have been used for household expenses – Jon says the sum never existed.

If you have been following this in the media, then you’ll know there is a fairly big issue surrounding the fact that Jon may have allegedly cheated on Kate.

The reason I’m highlighting this divorce is to give a contrast against my earlier post about Adrian Chiles Divorce. Jon and Kates divorce is a great example of one that shouldn’t and couldn’t be done online. These guys need a qualified solicitor, as there is so much at stake, and the divorce from what we can tell is far – far – from amicable.
