End of Katie Price and Peter Andre Divorce Saga
October 20, 2009
Online Divorce understands that Katie Price and Peter Andre are set to finalise their divorce tomorrow. Whilst the saga of their lives, their split and their ongoing feud seems to have dragged on for….forever….I have to say that their actual divorce has gone through quickly and pretty much without a hitch. Surprising given the volatile nature of their relationship.
However, perhaps more than anything else, this highlights the benefit of having a completely watertight pre nuptial agreement in place. From what I know, this couple had a very concise pre nup in place and has made the divorce process so much easier.
Price is understandably very guarded of her fortune and estate – perhaps she’ll need to be with her dwindling popularity. Andre on the other hand has his own flourishing career to take care of him and is really only concerned with having access to the children.
Despite the divorce going through easily, the split seems to still be producing its own amount of controversy. The latest instalment see’s Andre falling out with Prices new man in tow, Alex Reid ( a cage fighter by occupation ). Allegedly, Alex prevented Pete from speaking to his children, and has since released news to some magazines that one of the children has started to call him dad – nice role model.
Present at Birth – The Divorce is Your Fault!
October 19, 2009
I had to quickly do a quick blog post about an article I just read on the Daily Express website. Apparently, if as a father, you were at your child birth, you could have inadvertently been the cause if you have been through a divorce – yes, it is your fault!! You might have known!
Far be it from me to argue with medical research and advice, but the theory goes that by being at the birth, you will have caused more stress and distraction to the mother – with doctors even going as far as saying that the prescence of the father can cause a caesarian to be needed.
Back in the 1950’s when the most common form of birth was at home with just the mother and a midwife, apparently births were a lot less stressful because it was something between women, and they understood each other. Add a male into the mix, and it all becomes something a little more complex. Even male doctors are being blamed for some of the problems!
How does this contribute to the divorce part of the equation – well the article is a bit unclear on that front, but I can only assume that the added trauma you as a man cause is unforgivable and leads to long term resentment. Whatever next.
Avril Lavigne Divorces Husband
October 15, 2009
Well there’s a real risk that my online divorce blog is turning into a celebrity divorce blog at the moment, but across the water, punk / pop star Avril Lavigne has just filed for divorce from her husband Deryck Whibley. The couple had been married for three years and had seemed to be the picture of happiness up until this news broke.
It seems the split pretty amicable though, with Lavigne being quoted as saying :” I admire Deryck and have a great amount of respect for him. I am grateful for our time together and I am grateful and blessed for our remaining friendship.”
The pair had dated for 2 years before getting married, and are citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.
Its widely known that Whibley works as a producer on her music, just recently completing her forthcoming Album – makes me wonder whether working with your partner is such a good idea.
Anyway, tomorrow I’ll be steering away from the celebrity divorce genre and will be looking at how a divorce can be a win win situation for both parties.
I Need A Quick Divorce
October 14, 2009
Working on the phones in the online divorce office, one of the most common things you’ll hear is a customer telling us they ” need a quick divorce ” or ” what’s the quickest divorce I can get?”. If I was a salesperson by nature, I would reply with the stock answer – You’ve come to the right place! Unfortunately I am a little more ethical than that, and my legal nature would prevent me from making any such bold claim.
So what do I advise in this situation? Well, the first thing we always do is collate the facts – whats most important is ascertaining whether the circumstances surrounding the divorce are a match for the services we offer. If they are, then great, we can go on to let you know how quick we can get the divorce processed and through – if they are lucky they could qualify for a DIY divorce which only costs £68 and takes 100 days to complete.
Obviously this is not always the case though – in these situations we still give advice on who the customer should go and see, what sort of price they can expect to pay and what the process for them should be like. Although we don’t make a penny from this, I still see it as good customer service, and thats what we pride ourselves on.
” Marriage is hard-Divorce is much harder! ” According to Jon and Kate Gosselin
October 14, 2009
I don’t know how many of you would have seen the tv series Jon and Kate Plus 8? Its shown on one of the lesser known channels on satellite and features a couple, Jon and Kate Gosselin, and their 8 children. Its quite a heart warming reality TV show as you see the day to day struggles and joys of a modern family with 8 children – that is until Jon and Kate split up, and believe me when I say I don’t think even our DIY divorce expertise would help this couple!!
The couple are now going through a divorce which looks to be kind of messy. The opening shots have come from Kates lawyers asking Jon to return £180,000 worth of marital funds, plus contesting an arbitration issue of $55,000 claimed to have been used for household expenses – Jon says the sum never existed.
If you have been following this in the media, then you’ll know there is a fairly big issue surrounding the fact that Jon may have allegedly cheated on Kate.
The reason I’m highlighting this divorce is to give a contrast against my earlier post about Adrian Chiles Divorce. Jon and Kates divorce is a great example of one that shouldn’t and couldn’t be done online. These guys need a qualified solicitor, as there is so much at stake, and the divorce from what we can tell is far – far – from amicable.
Adrian Chiles Gets A “Quicky” Divorce
October 14, 2009
Presenter and star of BBC 1’s the One Show, Adrian Chiles, has been given a divorce from his wife of 11 years, Jane Garvey. The reason cited for the divorce was “unreasonable behaviour” on Chiles part. Allegedly, his commitment to work and lack of ability to turn work down, resulting in long periods away led to the marriage breaking down.
The couple seem to have agreed to the divorce amicably, sharing the cost of the proceedings.
Whilst, believe it or not, I don’t like to see anyone go through a divorce, this particular one caught my eye and highlights the benefit of an online divorce service like ours. The fact that Chiles was cited as having unreasonable behaviour is not a problem – he has accepted this, so the divorce is still seen as being amicable and uncontested.
The couple will in all likelyhood now go to a solicitor, and pay in excess of £1000. By using an online divorce service, they could get away with paying just £68!!
Unfortunately I don’t know Adrian well enough to call him and suggest this – maybe i’ll text the One Show!!!
Getting Divorced? Go on a Honeymoon!!!
October 13, 2009
Online divorce read an interesting article yesterday about a state in Malaysia that has come up with a novel idea to save its plummeting marriage rate!
Any couple that is having difficulties and are considering getting a divorce have the opportunity to go on a 2nd honeymoon to try and reconcile their differences! There are numerous criteria involved, and the couple have to undergo a fairly stringent interview process to make sure that they are not just “acting” in order to gain the Honeymoon, but if successful, they get the equivalent of a £400 honeymoon to enjoy.
It did get me wondering if actually there was some ground in this. After all, I wonder how many marriages break up because the couple involved are simply under too much pressure and stress, which can cause a breakdown in communication which then causes the breakup? Maybe a short break away would do the world of good.
Unfortunately in the UK we get stuck with marriage counselling – i’m off to find flights to Malaysia!
Where Can I Get Divorce Advice?
October 7, 2009
Getting divorced is actually a very simple process, but it can sometimes seem like a minefield – where do you go, how does it all work, what is the divorce process, who has to do what – the questions can seem endless.
Yes you can go to a lawyer, but that will cost you money – and at a time when you probably want to save every penny you have, try and avoid this.
The next thing you can try is the internet. There are tons of great online resources, from Wikipedia to Divorce forums – but a word of warning, don’t take everything you read as gospel. Every ones situation is different, and there’s a lot of armchair lawyers out there who unwittingly give you false advice.
But do not despair, there is a 3rd option!! You can just come to Online Divorce and use our online resource section. Over the coming months we’ll be adding articles about getting divorced, and they are all free to use for our members. Additionally, if you use our online divorce service, you have unlimited access to our customer care advisors seven days a week.
Which Online Divorce Solution For Me?
October 6, 2009
So you have made the unfortunate decision to split up and get a divorce, and you have also decided that you both want it to be as quick and painless as possible – which is where we come in.
However, which of our options should you go for – at the top level we have two routes you can go down – a DIY divorce package or a managed divorce package.
Choosing which one really depends on your personal circumstances, and our Customer Care Advisors are specially trained to help you with this decision.
Really, a DIY Divorce is for couples who are completely amicable about the split, have nothing at all to contest, and just want the paperwork out the way as soon as possible. We can process these divorces very quickly, and really just require a few signatures from your end.
A managed divorce is more useful for a split where although everything is amicable, there may be a few complications of some type.
The cost of either of these is about £1000 less than you would find on the high street with the DIY divorce starting at just £69, and a fully managed divorce from £182.
Online Divorce Blog – Hello
October 5, 2009
I must admit, when we launched Online Divorce we looked at everything we utilise on a website to make the service as efficient and friendly as possible. One thing that the technical guys kept telling me was ” You must have a blog – You MUST have a blog – YOU MUST HAVE A BLOG!! ” – I got the hint after a while.
But I couldn’t understand where a blog fitted into the everyday business of helping people through the throngs of getting divorced. After all, we are in essence like a shop – you select the divorce you want, we help you process it as quickly as possibly, and we save you over a £1000 in the process – erm, what else could you want us for?
But then I started looking round at other peoples websites and especially at their blogs, and a few idea’s started to round in my head about what I could use this section of the site for – and now here it is.
So check back here often for my own updates on the world of divorce, online divorce, and DIY divorce, as well as anything else I think is relevant and interesting for couples going through the unfortunate advent of getting divorced.
